Importing Documents with Attachments

Modified on Thu, 30 May at 2:30 PM

The 'Import Documents' tab in iPassport is a great tool to bring in multiple pre-existing documents, especially if they are already authorised.  On occasions, new documents to import also carry attachments and it is possible to import the attachments together with the documents using the following method.

Because attachments are linked to specific documents, they must be handled individually. If they are uploaded in bulk along with the source files, the system will not be able to determine their correct placement.

These are the steps to follow:

1: Setup Import Records for Documents

  • Please refer to the article, "Document Importer" to set up individual metadata records for each of the documents to be imported.
  • The 'Import Documents' tab should display one or more rows of metadata records:

2: Upload Attachments in Corresponding Records

  • To add attachments to any document in the staging area:
    • Click the row of the document to open the metadata sheet for that document
    • Scroll to the bottom to find the field, 'Attachments'
    • Click the dotted pale yellow box to open your browser search tool or simply drag the file into the dotted area:
