How to enable 'Request authorisation'

Modified on Thu, 15 Feb at 2:52 PM

When you don't use a publishing workflow to release draft documents, there are two available options - to authorise the document yourself (and optionally ask others), or to request authorisation from others.  If you don't have permission to authorise a given document, you won't see the 'Authorise Document' button.  But if you don't see the 'Request Authorisation' button in a draft version, it most likely hasn't been enabled in the system preferences.

How to enable 'Request authorisation' (only available to users with access to the administration area):

  1. Navigate to 'Administration > Settings > System Preferences'
  2. Locate the row labelled, 'Miscellaneous Settings' and click it to open the tab
  3. Find the preference, 'Enable option to Request Authorisation' and tick the checkbox next to it
  4. Scroll down and click 'Save'

The blue round button 'Request Authorisation' should then appear in documents in draft state.
