Permissions and Settings for Materials and Reagents

The permissions relating to Reagents and Materials are confined to the OU where they are applied. Physical reagents and materials can be located anywhere in the organisation but their records must be assigned an Organisational Unit (OU) as a base. This allows managing the permissions by department and very granular roles can be created to grant different permissions to different users for the different activities involved. For example, someone from the purchasing department can be granted permission to check in stock but not to check it out.

When the Batch/Stock feature is enabled, the role, ‘Stock Editor’ provides specific permissions for both reagents and materials stock management, as shown below.

The roles, ‘Global Editor (excluding admin and personnel records)’ and ‘Global Editor (excluding admin)’ include all of the permissions.

The roles, ‘Global Viewer (excluding admin and personnel records)’, ‘Global Viewer (excluding admin)’ and ‘Reagent Viewer’ include the following permissions:

The role, ‘Reagent Editor’ includes the following permissions:

Permissions for Materials

The list of permissions for materials is the same as the one for reagents, only the name changes.

Reagents & Materials Stock Settings

There are no administration settings for reagents and materials but the batch/stock feature needs to be enabled by the iPassport support team for it to be available. If using iPassport to manage stock and the feature is not enabled (the tabs, ‘Search Material Stock’ and ‘Add Stock’ are not visible) please contact us ([email protected]).
